Reno Type’s own Kurt Hoge traveled to Las Vegas to sit for a 4 hour exam to gain the professional “Certified Advertising Specialist” (CAS) exam. By passing it, he became one of only five individuals in the state of Nevada to have earned the designation.
“This designation demonstrates that we’re not just ‘product peddlers,’ but experts in helping clients achieve results through the use of promotional products,” according to Mr. Hoge.
“Anyone can buy something cheap online and sell it. We differentiate ourselves with a focus on measurable results.”
The Certified Advertising Specialist (CAS) designation is the promotional products industry’s primary professional credential. Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) created this certification program in 1961 to designate individuals in the industry who have demonstrated an advanced knowledge of and experience in the promotional products market. To be eligible, a candidate must have a minimum of three years professional experience in the industry and have completed 75 hours from a structured industry approved curriculum. The rigorous curriculum required includes an overview of the promotional products industry, promotional programs, best practices, supplier/distributer relations, advertising and marketing overview, product safety basics and business ethics. Certification is awarded with a passing score on the CAS exam, and maintained through mandatory continuing education.
